Community Service

Research has shown that youth who have engaged in meaningful service learning experiences have an even higher rate of future success in both their educational pursuits and personal lives. As such, the C5 program includes a service learning and advocacy component to the overall leadership experience. Youth begin their service learning emphasis in the early stages of the program while in Wyoming, continue with an annual community service requirement, and culminate with a community advocacy project in their final year with C5.

The final project, better known as the ACT Now Summit, involves a weeklong community leadership experience designed to help them understand how decisions are made and how needs are met in the communities where they live. Teens have the opportunity to meet the people who are making a difference in their home communities and think beyond community service to community advocacy. At the end of the week, they develop a multimedia presentation or support event about their experience and share it with younger students.
