David Irvin Houck grew up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. He began college at Iowa State and transferred to Pepperdine University in 1985, fulfilling his dream of living in California. Shortly afterward, David founded Houck Construction Incorporated. For over 20 years David has had the privilege of working with renowned architects and designers to create high-end high-quality estates, many of which have been published in magazines such as Architectural Digest, Town and Country and Elle Décor.
David is very devoted to his family, especially his son David, born in 2009. The Houck family are all very close and David and his son often travel all over the country to visit them – from his niece’s sporting events in San Luis Obispo to supporting his nephew’s accomplishments at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. David’s father is a very active outdoorsman, and they often vacation together, enjoying their common interests of skiing, fishing and horseback riding. When visiting his mother, David is always inspired by her community involvement, especially her passion for the non-profit library that she founded and helps operate in a small community outside her town in Wisconsin.
David’s passions include golf, sailing, fishing, horseback riding, tennis and skiing – both water and snow. He serves on the Board for Friends of Golf, a non-profit organization devoted to the support of bringing the sport of golf to youth at both the High School and College level through financial and equipment contribution. David’s love of the fine arts is confirmed by his generous contributions to the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Opera, as well as other organizations dedicated to enhancing the community’s cultural affairs. David is one of the original members of the Southern California Food and Wine Society and shares the desire of his fellow members to learn more about gourmet food and wine in a social setting.
