Nominate a Leader

C5LA is a 5-year youth leadership and college access program. Our Leaders become
Character Driven, Challenge Ready, College Bound, Community Focused, and Committed to a Better Future.

The Process

  • staff reviewing applications

    Nomination

Our process starts with an adult nominating a potential 8th grade student for the program. This nominator who is familiar with the candidate shares why they think the student should be chosen and speaks on their character while offering us information about the student’s school involvement, and specific information about the student’s eligibility to be considered for the program.

    Application

Once we receive and approve the nomination, an online application is completed and submitted by the nominated student. This application is comprehensive and mimics the college application process asking for information like school activities, community service involvement, transcripts and a personal statement.

    Interview

After reviewing nominations and applications, C5LA staff select students for interviews which are conducted at the student’s school or the C5 office. These interviews, both in small groups and individually, give us a chance to get to know the candidate better to determine both eligibility and ‘fit’ for the program.

Please consider nominating some of your outstanding 8th graders to the C5LA program!
